"For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn.", Ernest Hemigway

The third phrase, never worn, indicates that a someone died. The first two phrases hint that a child died. Hemingway is probably reflecting on an experience that he had in his own life. Previously we read Hills Like White Elephants, which describes a story about an abortion (there could be a connection).

  1. I completely thought something different than you Will. In the beginning when I first read it, even before Mrs. Glatt told us about it and we discussed it with the class I thought there were baby shoes on sale and the shoes were never worn before so that was something amazing that cheap shoes were on sale even though they were not even worn. But then after we discussed it with the class i got the same view as you and the class.
